So let's all go back to tBC. Unless you were guilded, put in months of "positive" gameplay and suck-up-ed-ness within the guild/community...you were PNG'd as far as end-game content. (That's persona non grata for those not in the know).

Until the geared guildies and friends unsubbed waiting for more content...people didn't have a choice but to go find more players.

WotLK comes around, Blizz adds RDF/LFD to keep people from locking out the majority of the players from playing end game again.
